Part-time workers and Living Wage

Most workers who will benefit from Living Wage are part-time.  An argument by the opponents of fairness and change is these workers don’t deserve a Living Wage because, well they only work part-time.  (As if part-time work doesn’t qualify as work.)

Here are some facts about part-time work:

*  More than twice as many women than men are employed part-time.

*  Most women who work part-time do so in the lowest paid jobs.

*  Part-time workers often string together multiple jobs to make ends meet.

*  The leading cause of underemployment is low paid part-time work.
